The limousine is not just a car, it is a symbol of luxury and style. It's also something which did not come out of the car plant as it is. It may have started life as a regular model, but it only became a stretch limousine after some big body work.

Limousine companies keep in style by acquiring limousines based on new model cars. From the various late model vehicles they take their pick based on current customer preferences. This would account for the rise specialty vehicles like limousine buses, SUV limousines and the Hummer limo, aside from the regular limos based on the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Towncar.

These basic models of upscale vehicles are then completely modified to fit specifications and requirements of a limousine.

First off, the cars are stretched. The car is stripped down. Practically everything is taken out. Then the car is cut in half, just between the front and rear seats. The stretching part is where the an extender, is welded between the front chassis and frame. Additional stiffener and support is also provided to prevent the middle from sagging. Additional body panels made of carbon-fiber is added to fill in the gap between the cut halves.

Once the support and body is done, the inside is now spruced up and outfitted with requisite luxuries, from leather trimmings, wirings, fiber-optic cables, network cables, video cables, connecting to the antennas, automated controllers, LCD screens, video games, computers, as well as sound systems and refrigerator, or the odd jacuzzi.
